About Kanji Masters

Kanji Masters は、英語話者の日本語学習者向けに作った無料の学習サイトです。漢字の読み方、日本語の語彙、JLPT N5・N4 レベルの単語を、シンプルな4択クイズと学習記事で練習できるようにしています。

できるだけ気軽に使えるように、サイトの作りはシンプルにしています。ログインしなくてもクイズを開けて、必要なときに記事を読んで、また後で戻って練習できる形を大事にしています。

Kanji Masters is a free Japanese learning website for English-speaking learners. It is designed to help learners practice kanji readings, Japanese vocabulary, and JLPT N5/N4 words through simple multiple-choice quizzes and practical study guides.

The site is intentionally simple. You can open a quiz quickly, read a short article when you need context, and come back later without creating an account or paying for access.

私は日本人で、日本語のネイティブスピーカーです。また、カナダに4年ほど住んで英語を勉強した経験があるので、言語を学ぶことが難しいという感覚は自分でもよく分かります。

だからこそ、このサイトは practical and realistic であることを大事にしています。日本語学習者の多くは、漢字を見て意味は分かっても、実際にひらがなの読みをすぐに出すところで苦労しやすいと感じています。

I am Japanese, and Japanese is my native language. I also spent about four years living in Canada and studying English, so I understand from personal experience that language learning can be difficult even when you study seriously and keep going every day.

Because of that, I try to make this site practical and realistic. Many Japanese learners can recognize a kanji or remember the English meaning of a word, but still struggle to read the word quickly in hiragana when they see it in context.

このギャップはかなり大きいと思っています。日本語を読む力は、意味を知っているだけでは足りず、漢字・ひらがな・発音・実際の語彙を頭の中でつなげる練習が必要です。

その練習をもっとやりやすくするために、このサイトを作りました。登録や支払いを先に求めるのではなく、短いクイズを繰り返しながら、読みを自然に速くしていける場所にしたいと思っています。

That gap matters. Reading Japanese is not only about knowing what a word means. Learners also need to connect kanji, hiragana, pronunciation, and real vocabulary fast enough that reading starts to feel natural instead of slow and mechanical.

I wanted to create a place where learners could practice that skill in a straightforward way. Instead of asking learners to sign up, pay first, or sort through unnecessary features, the site keeps the focus on reading words, choosing the correct hiragana reading, and building speed through short sessions.

このサイトでは、JLPT N5 の語彙の読み、JLPT N4 の語彙の読み、よく使う漢字の読み、日常的な日本語の単語などを練習できます。

クイズは短く区切ってあるので、ただ知識を増やすだけではなく、少しずつ読むスピードを上げる練習にも使えます。

You can use Kanji Masters to practice JLPT N5 vocabulary readings, JLPT N4 vocabulary readings, common kanji readings, and everyday Japanese words that appear often in beginner and lower-intermediate study.

The quiz structure also helps with reading speed. Because the quizzes are short and focused, learners can repeat them over time and notice which readings still slow them down.

クイズを使うときは、まず答えを見る前に、単語のひらがなの読みを声に出してみるのがおすすめです。完全に自信がなくても、先に読もうとすることで練習の質が上がります。

クイズが終わったら、間違えた単語を見直して、時間をおいて別のパートをまた試してみてください。長く一度にやるより、短く繰り返す方が定着しやすいことが多いです。

A good way to use the quizzes is to look at the word, try to say the hiragana reading out loud, and then choose an answer. Even if you are not fully sure, saying the reading first makes the practice more active and more useful.

After finishing a quiz, review the words you missed and come back to another quiz part later. Short repeat sessions usually work better than trying to do too much at once.

これからも、クイズのパート数、語彙セット、学習記事を少しずつ増やしていく予定です。英語話者の学習者にとって、実用的で続けやすい日本語の読み練習サイトにしていきたいと考えています。
